Laser Sensors for the Construction and Civil Engineering Industries
Civil applications require reliable, robust and durable laser sensors to handle harsh conditions. Our sensors for civil engineering have been used in the construction and monitoring of bridges, tunnels, buildings and other civil applications. Acuity long range sensors typically measure positions of large embankments and structures to measure displacement over long ranges.
This application list is not intended to be exhaustive. The measuring tasks are by no means limited to these examples, and may serve as a suggestion for similar or completely different applications.
Crane Positioning
Cranes can be automated and monitored using long distance laser rangefinders, helping to improve crash avoidance, automated retrieval, and maintain equipment efficiency.
Long-Term Bridge Testing. Position of Pilings
Rangefinders can monitor freeway bridge piling positioning, including the structural position movement of pilings over time as well as other structural monitoring.
Overhead Crane Position Measurement
Steel mills producing large coils of sheet stock store their inventory on the floors of huge warehouses. Modern factories automate the pick and place of their inventory in 3D space by equipping their overhead cranes with multiple laser distance sensors.
Road Profiling
Road profiling systems incorporate non-contact laser sensors to measure the distance to the road surface and accelerometers to compensate for the effects of the vehicles movement.
