Laser Scanners for 2D & 3D Profiles

Non-Contact Laser Scanning for Dimensions of Surfaces, Objects and Scenes

Acuity laser line sensors are frequently used in automation and quality control applications in order to measure and verify dimensions, detect flaws and defects, and/or identify target surface variations. Common application fields for  a 2D laser line scanner include steel and aluminum production, automotive, aerospace technology, electronics, robotics, and welding. Profile scanners such as the AccuProfile 820 Laser Scanner offer a large selection of case sizes, measuring ranges, and diode/accessory options to be used in a wide range of measurement applications.

Laser profile measurement creates 2D & 3D shape profiles of targets, and help provide flatness measurements, measure for defects & errors, monitor quality control, and more. Laser scanners can perform very well on shiny or jagged targets and in environments with high ambient light. In one quality control example, laser line sensors helped inspect the quality of battery terminals for height and correct shape. Laser profilers can also be used for inline measurement, such as measuring the volume of different package sizes coming down a conveyor line
