Acuity Introduces EtherNet/IP™ Version for New AS2100 Long-Distance Sensor Posted in: Updates

Stemming from both popular and industry demand, Acuity has introduced a specialized EtherNet/IP™ back cover for the AS2100 Accurate Laser Distance Sensor. The AS2100 with EtherNet/IP allows the sensor to connect and send data to EtherNet/IP compatible hardware, and a specialized back cover contains all the hardware needed to communicate with this protocol.

The decision to add an EtherNet/IP compatible hardware was an easy decision for the Acuity Team. With the increasing use of this communication protocol with PLCs, we recognized the need to provide this communication protocol. We’ve created a quick start guide on how to get the AS2100 EtherNet/IP working with a common PLC (the Allen Bradley CompactLogix PLC). The guide includes relevant info and instructions on how to get started with the PLC and how to handle the process data and the acyclic read / write services of the sensor. Our AS2100 Ethernet Manual can be found here.
