Acuity's AR600 displacement sensor is among the most accurate optical
devices in the field. The shortest-range models are capable of micron
measurements at sampling rates to 1250 Hz. This Acuity laser displacement
sensor is unique and has the ability to accurately measure to difficult
target materials. The product is patented by the US Patent and Trademark
Office (patent
6,624,899, Triangulation Displacement Sensor). Acuity sensors are
designed for high-demand industrial applications. Each laser displacement
sensor is NEMA-4 (IP67) rated and can withstand mist and spray. However,
as with all optical devices, it is necessary to keep the sensor window
obstruction-free. The effects of a dirty sensor window are similar to
dirty eyeglasses for people: it can not see clearly. As a result, measurement
accuracy can decrease.
AccuRange™
600 sensor data sheet
This four-page specification brochure shares all of the technical details
about the sensor includeing electrical, mechanical, software and physical
specifications. The data sheet describes the principles of laser triangulation,
a glossary of terms pertinent to this sensor and displays a comparison
chart for all twelve AR600 models. Please note that our data sheets are
updated frequently and the latest revisions reside on this website.

AR200 / AR600 laser sensor demonstration
Software
This software is used to quickly and easily setup your AR200 and AR600
laser measuring sensors. The graphical user interface makes it simple
to configure the settings. Acuity demo software requires the download
of the version release zip file as well as the National Instruments™
Visa. To install the demo software, run setup.exe. After this, install
the visa300runtime.exe file.

Output interfaces
Standard RS-232 Serial
Output
All sensors come with an RS-232 serial output on a 6 foot, 9 pin (D sub
9) cable that connects directly to PC style serial ports. Serial output
can be configured for one of several data formats. ASCII may be used for
visual reading with a terminal device or emulation program, or a binary
format can be used with application software. The data may include calibrated
distance output only, uncalibrated range and other sample data only, or
both. When the binary format uncalibrated distance output only is selected,
the maximum sample rate is 1250 samples per second. Baud rate is selectable
from 300 to 56,000 baud.
Optional RS-422
Serial Output
For long distance communications up to 4000 feet, the RS-232 serial output
may be replaced with an RS-422 serial output. The available sample rates,
formats and software configuration commands are all the same as for the
RS-232.
Optional Current Loop Output
A 4-20 milliamp current output may be ordered as an option for the AR600
sensor. It is installed internally. The resolution is 1 in 4000 and the
integral linearity is 1 in 2000. The zero and span points for the current
loop output may be set at any location. The span point (20 mA) may be
made closer than the zero point if desired. The calibrated output on the
current loop allows sample rates of 1250 samples per second. The 4-20 mA
output has a maximum voltage capability of 10 volts, and it is suggested
that a 400 to 500 ohm load be used at the reading instrumentation for
best accuracy
