All Acuity sensors measure distance from the sensor to a target or object surface. The AccuRange models primarily vary in measurement span (range), the measuring speed and the accuracy of the measurements. Other differences include physical dimensions of the sensor, data output formats, power requirements, measurement principles employed, etc. See the individual product's data sheet for more informaiton. The Acuity laser line scanner is a 2D scanner that reports distance and mirror position.
